PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A Peoria County judge sentenced a Peoria woman to more than three decades in prison on Thursday for the murder of her boyfriend in the fall of 2023.
Chief Judge Katherine Gorman sentenced Tnashia Wash, 20, to 31 years in prison for shooting and killing her boyfriend, Roderick Richardson, 30, in October 2023.
Wash was found guilty of first-degree murder in June, where she admitted to the killing, but claimed it was self-defense. Wash said the couple was fighting and that Richardson had threatened her, causing her to shoot him.
Autopsy results showed that Richardson was shot in the back six times.
