SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (13 News) - The first of several town halls for Cochise County residents took place Wednesday evening in Sierra Vista, as a proposed tax district to fund a new jail goes before voters in November.

The town hall was a chance for voters to make their voices heard, and many of them lodged similar concerns.

There’s been a lot of back and forth surrounding the jail, including an election, lawsuit, court rulings, and now a new election.

And the discourse seems far from over, as many residents shared various concerns over communication and transparency from the board when it comes to the logistics of how the jail will be built.

“We never saw all of the engineering specifications; that said, this is why this jail is bad,” said Daniel LaChance.
