KENTWOOD, Mich. (WOOD) — A boy who was hit by a vehicle while riding his scooter in Kentwood Sunday has died, according to his school district.

Isaac Rose, 12, was supposed to start 7th grade at Fruitport Middle School next week. Instead, members of Fruitport Community Schools are rallying around his family after he died Thursday at the hospital.

Rose was riding his scooter on Poinsettia Avenue near Edsel Street around 3:21 p.m. Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle. Police first reported he was 10 years old but his mother confirmed to News 8 that he was 12. First responders gave Rose first aid and he was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital where he died days later.
