CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - EMA officials in Calhoun County say preparation is key when it comes to severe weather because you never know how it could impact you.
Wednesday was a First Alert Weather Day for strong storms and possible flooding, including Calhoun County.
Damaging winds from the storm blew a tree on top of a home on Boiling Springs Road in Oxford.

“They may seem miniscule or small, but they do have an effect on the environment and could possibly cause that person to be hurt or even worse,” said EMA Officer Keshawn Long.
That same night, a pregnant woman and her mother traveling from Louisiana to South Carolina stopped for gas in Oxford. She says because of flood waters, she ended up trapped inside her car in a ditch.
