BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Alabama veterans who once served on the front lines are now stepping into the world of business.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Veterans Entrepreneurship Academy hosted its first showcase Thursday night at Innovation Depot, celebrating 30 graduates of its inaugural cohort.
Patrick J. Murphy, Ph.D., Goodrich Chair of Entrepreneurship and director of the J. Frank Barefield Jr. Entrepreneurship Program, said the event is about translating military discipline into entrepreneurial success.
“We are serving veterans here in Alabama who are also entrepreneurs, and we’ve tailored the program to really meet their needs,” Murphy said.
