The Santa Maria Philharmonic Society honored local couple Jed and Diane Beebe with its inaugural Directors Award at its annual meeting on Monday at the Santa Maria Inn’s Cabana Room.

In presenting the award, board of directors President Sandra Dickerson said, “Our first Directors Award is being given to a couple who have given literally decades of time and financial assistance to the Philharmonic. They are responsible for ensuring we have a Philharmonic today, guiding it through some challenging years.

"Their extraordinary generosity has always been motivated and inspired by his (Jed's) love of music, stalwart belief that it matters, and firm hope and desire that it should never disappear.”

As board president emeritus, Beebe has been involved with the orchestra for more than 20 years.
