Weeks into his new role as CEO for the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, John Wilson is calling on all levels of government to address downtown safety issues.

Two businesses in downtown are the latest victims of vandalism. According to Friends of Dorothy’s Instagram page, someone had kicked in their front window.

That same day, Mandy Large, owner of The Bannock Room, found that two of her Pride flags had been destroyed.

“I don’t necessarily feel safe, especially in this location,” said Large.

Victoria Police confirmed that police responded to two mischief calls and that they’re both under investigation.

“It’s too early at this point to determine whether they are connected, or what the motivation may be,” said VicPD in an email.
