ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) - The National Weather Service has put into place a Flash Flood Emergency until 11 p.m. Thursday because of severe flooding in the Roanoke area.

There are multiple reports of water on roads in northwest Roanoke, including Peters Creek Road.

Roanoke Fire-EMS spokesperson Hope Escobar told WDBJ7:

Working on list of road closures. I can confirm Shaffers crossing and south peter’s creek near station 13 are creating some traffic hazards. Barricades will be placed at these locations.
