IRONDALE, Ala. —
Work is underway to bring a new Civic Center to Irondale.
Irondale city leaders and citizens took part in a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday, Aug. 21, on Ratliff Road.
According to the city, the project is a $20 million redevelopment of the former Zamora Temple property, which the city purchased in 2022 for $5 million.
The property sits on 105 acres and the new Civic Center will offer a new conference hall, meeting rooms, splash pad, playground, walking trail and amphitheater, among other amenities, the city said.
The Civic Center is expected to be completed within two years.
