TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - Residents and businesses along 12th Avenue have been watching changes to how traffic, and now stormwater, are routed along the southside artery.

The coming changes are from a city-wide program. The spaces already made will accommodate Tucson Water’s Storm to Shade program to set up green stormwater infrastructure, even if not all residents are convinced it’s the right direction.

12th Avenue gets colorful between Irvington and Drexel, which is a result of multi-colored spaces in areas left by reducing traffic to one lane in each direction.

“The best reason was speeding. Speedy cars. Like a Speedy Gonzales,” said El Guero Canelo owner Daniel Contreras.
