Biscayne Park Police arrested and charged a man with animal cruelty in connection with the suspected poisoning deaths of two cats.

The cats' owner didn’t want to be identified, but she said she was grateful for the arrest.

“I really did not think we would catch the person who did this,” she said.

Over the last year and a half, someone has left plates of food near and around her home with a weird substance, she said. But last week, two cats that she's cared for ate the food and died.

According to an arrest report, police came out to the neighborhood Wednesday and found two trays with suspected animal poison. A lab is working to confirm if it’s poison, but investigators said a vet already determined one of the cats died from poisoning.
