Craig Kimbrel will get another chance to revive his career in 2025.

The longtime closer signed a deal with the Houston Astros on Tuesday, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported . Kimbrel will join the team in Baltimore on Friday and be on the big-league roster.

Kimbrel was most recently with the Texas Rangers on a minor league deal . The right-hander 3.86 ERA in 21 innings. He was granted his release and became a free agent on Thursday.

But Kimbrel wasn’t on the market long thanks to Houston.

Kimbrel began the 2025 season with the Braves after he signed a minor league deal with the team in March. He was called up to Atlanta in June and made one appearance — the pitcher’s first since 2014 during his first stint with the team before — getting designated for assignment .
