NEW YORK -- Their issues with runners in scoring position had reached notorious levels for a second straight game, but the Red Sox got a game-breaking hit from their youngest player when the occasion called for it.

Roman Anthony continues to show that his lack of experience isn’t an impediment. The 21-year-old bashed a towering two-run homer to right in the top of the ninth to give his team some breathing room in a 6-3 win in Thursday night’s opener of a four-game rivalry series at Yankee Stadium.

Anthony belted a game-tying RBI single to tie the game at 3-3 in the sixth. In the seventh, Nathaniel Lowe -- making his second start for the Red Sox -- roped an RBI double into the right-center-field gap to give his team the lead for good.
