Joe Soprano wore his passions on his sleeve. In the Times Leader newsroom, this was sometimes a very literal statement.

When the office door closed for a few minutes, one of Soprano’s greatest passions was soon to follow; the Times Leader executive editor would reemerge, running shoes and shorts on as he headed out for a run.

Soprano’s love for physical fitness led him into marathons, 5Ks and even into the sport of triathlon during his life.

A moment of silence will be observed on Sunday morning at the beginning of the Back Mountain Triathlon in honor of Soprano, who passed away in July after battling cancer.
