VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - U.S. Sen. Jon Ossoff says he is working to ensure the state’s high school graduates can get a good job without going to a four-year college.
In Clayton County, Ossoff was joined by state business and education leaders to announce the introduction of his new Skilled Workforce Act.
The senator said the bill would incentivize companies to invest in equipment and facilities at local public high schools, as well as technical and community colleges, to train workers.
The bill would direct the Secretary of the Treasury, in coordination with the Secretary of Commerce, to establish a new program to award competitive tax credits for qualifying workforce training projects.
The new bill has been endorsed by the Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber of Commerce.
