A federal judge on Thursday ordered no more detained immigrants to be sent to a center in the Florida Everglades and ordered much of the facility to be dismantled.

Judge Kathleen Williams of the U.S. District Court in Miami ruled that the state and federal governments have violated a federal law requiring environmental review before any major federal construction project.

Williams partially granted a preliminary injunction sought by environmentalists and the Miccosukee Tribe, whose members live in the area, arguing that the detention center is surrounded by protected lands that are part of the delicate Everglades ecological system.
