DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A Battle of the Badges took place at Wade Stadium Thursday night.

The Duluth Police Department went head-to-head with the Duluth Fire Department for their 16th annual charity softball game.

The game benefits the Northern Lights Foundation, which is a Duluth organization that provides grants to support families with children who have life-threatening illnesses.

A recipient of one of those grants threw the first pitch.

Organizers say this is a great way to honor local heroes who are raising money for little heroes in the fight of their lives.

Duluth Fire took home the winning title.
