SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Responding to President Donald Trump's orders for Texas to gerrymander their congressional maps to win five new Republican congressional seats, Gov. Gavin Newsom has struck back with his California Democratic House majority attempting to alter the California constitution in order to gerrymander California Congressional Republicans out of a job.

“This is a temporary effort period, full stop. Constitutional amendment that changes congressional maps in 26, 28, and 30, and reverts back in 30 for a traditional census,” Newsom said.

Newsom says if Texas stops their political midcycle gerrymandering, he would stop his efforts as well.
