TRIBUTES have flooded in after a college baseball player died while working at a sporting event.

Cornerstone University in Michigan paid tribute to "kind, caring and intelligent" Joshua Darst.

Darst died at age 21 at the Cincinnati Open tennis tournament.

He was a senior at the college and landed a role as an intern working at the tennis.

WLWT reported that he fell from a golf cart near the loading dock at around 11 pm Monday.

The incident was hours after the finals of the competition.

Darst was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries.

WKRC reported that the death was ruled an accident by a coroner.

The Butler County Coroner says he suffered head trauma, their report adds.
