Last year Bridgeton (6-4, 4-1) was in West Jersey Football League Memorial Division race until the final regular season game when the Bulldogs fell to Cherry Hill East, 35-14 in a battle between unbeaten division teams. Coach Dominique Williams, a former star running back at Bridgeton, feels the Bulldogs can be a contender with eight returning starters on offense and seven on defense, from a Group 5 playoff team that lost in the first round to three-time defending state champion Toms River North.

“We were close last year, and I believe we’ve gotten better this year,” Williams said.

While the Bulldogs have definite plans on contending, Cherry Hill East (9-1, 5-0), despite some key losses to graduation, isn’t about to fade from the map.
