Stacy Kay loves to collect rocks. Her Valley Road home in Charleston’s Edgewood neighborhood even has bowls full of them, she said.

In May, Kay found a way for her love of rocks to slither onto the sidewalk.

The Valley Road Rock Snake, now featuring 60 painted rocks, greets walkers who are often traveling to nearby Cato Park.

Kay is a Block Champion with the West Side Neighborhood Association . She hosts a monthly clean-up of nearby Greendale Drive and tries to beautify the neighborhood with projects like her garden. She saw the idea of a rock snake on social media and thought it would be fun to do in her neighborhood.

“It gives us a way to easily connect with our neighbors, and it’s fun,” she said.
