NEW PALTZ. — SUNY New Paltz welcomed about 2,250 new undergraduate and graduate students for Move-In Day for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Long hugs and students looking to find their way around campus was a common sight outside of Shango Hall on Thursday. Finding a parking spot, unloading and going to the new dorm room had freshmen and their families working up until the last goodbye. “It’s bittersweet. I cried so hard. My heart is full and my heart is broken,” said Jane Lecroy of Washington Heights, whose son will be studying business.
Incoming freshmen came loaded with instant Ramen and a large reserve of other snacks. “I am ready,” said Xian Angotti, a National Merit Scholarship Program’s commended student from near Syracuse.
“It’s the right size school for me — not too big, not too
