Des Moines Public Schools has 13 new principals for the 2025-26 school year.

One principal was hired on an interim basis.

The new administrators come at a time when the district is undergoing an overhaul due to Reimagining Education.

Thirteen new Des Moines Public Schools principals will greet students when classes resume Aug. 25.

The new hirers come at a time when Iowa's largest school district is in the early stages of Reimagining Education, Reinvigorating Schools — a plan designed to overhaul to update facilities and improve educational outcomes.

Additional changes families will see at the start of the 2025-26 school year include more all-day, 4-year-old preschool classes and additional elementary schools serving students in kindergarten through sixth grade.
