GREENEVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) — Greeneville City Manager Todd Smith officially resigned on Thursday.
According to a city spokesperson, Smith sent an email of his registration to employees around 11:30 a.m.
On Tuesday, the Greeneville City Council formally requested Smith’s resignation after a vote with Mayor Cal Doty acting as the tiebreaker.

"To the staff of the Town of Greeneville,
Today I am submitting my letter of resignation to the Greeneville City Council. To say thank you for the work you do in this community is insufficient. For the last 13+ years you’ve allowed me in your lives, you taught me aspects of your jobs, you shared your ups and downs outside of work, and we walked side by side moving this community forward.
I reflect on all that you ha
