NEW YORK — Hulu’s new limited series about Amanda Knox allowed the exonerated American woman to “finally grieve the young person that I was” before she was wrongfully convicted in Italy for the murder of housemate Meredith Kercher.

Knox, 38, was enjoying a semester in Perugia in 2007 at age 20 when she and her boyfriend discovered 21-year-old Kercher brutally murdered in the girls’ home. Her arrest — stemming in part from a coerced confession with neither translator nor lawyer present for the interrogation — soon followed, along with sexist media portrayals and the now-infamous “Foxy Knoxy” moniker.
