ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Onslow County beach accesses are now back open to the public.

Onslow County officials say the three county beach accesses in North Topsail Beach reopened at 10 a.m. today.

The accesses were closed as a safety precaution due to serious rip current risks and overwash concerns caused by Hurricane Erin.

Officials say there was some localized dune erosion and Beach Access Four had some overwash into the parking lot.

Parks & Recreation staff were able to clear up the sand and debris and confirmed that the beaches are now safe for visitors to enjoy after thorough inspections.

County officials still ask beachgoers to keep rip current risks in mind and pay attention to posted advisories.
