A Gloucester beach was closed Friday after a shark sighting.

A warning on the city’s beach Facebook page stated that Good Harbor Beach was closed Friday.

“Please stay out of the water until further notice and follow lifeguard instructions,” the Facebook post read.

The same beach was closed on Thursday after a shark sighting at Long Beach. It reopened Thursday afternoon.

Since Aug. 14, there have been 20 white shark sightings and one sign of shark predation on a seal, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy based in Chatham. All of these sightings were catalogued on the conservancy’s shark-tracking app, Sharktivity .
