YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown Police say a routine traffic stop early Friday led to the discovery of 13 bags of crack cocaine and the arrest of a suspect wanted on federal drug charges.

Officers pulled over a Kia Sorento at West LaClede Avenue and Hillman Street just after midnight because the driver allegedly ran a stop sign.

Officers say the driver allowed them to conduct a search inside the car, during which officers say they found a bookbag containing a heavy object.

According to the police report, the officer found a “large, heavy” plastic bag containing thirteen individual bags of crack cocaine.

Police say a passenger in the car, 36-year-old Darrian Brooks of Youngstown, admitted that the drugs belonged to him.

Brooks was arrested for possession of crack cocaine and for an extraditio
