AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Augusta officials are offering updates on the trash collection and recycling plans as the city shifts some of the services to a new provider .
One of the more notable changes is the start of the non-mandatory recycling program .
Trash customers may experience a short delay in cart removal and replacement, the city says.

Augusta Commission members on Tuesday started trying to figure out how to cover a nearly $11 million budget deficit.
If you need a replacement cart, it will be provided within four weeks.
A second cart may be requested for an additional cost.
New rates are:
Residential 95-gallon cart: $374.50
Residential 65-gallon cart: $294.38
