Political leaders across a Scottish council have doubled down on their pledge to provide refuge for those escaping war and oppression. ‌

The group leaders from every party on Perth and Kinross Council (PKC) released a joint statement today (Friday) "reaffirming commitment as Council of Sanctuary". ‌

The statement included the signatures of Councillor Grant Laing, PKC leader and SNP Group Leader; Provost Xander McDade, Independent Provost of Perth and Kinross; Conservative group leader Councillor John Duff; Councillor Peter Barrett, Liberal Democrats group leader; and Labour group leader Bailie Alasdair Bailey. ‌
