WAXAHACHIE, Texas — A popular North Texas Halloween theme park attraction won't be returning this season for the first time in nearly 30 years, but a new event will debut at the same place.

Screams Halloween Theme Park in Waxahachie, which was held at the same site as the Scarborough Renaissance Festival off I-35 at 2511 FM 66, announced it's closed after 28 years on its website .

"After 28 frightful years, Screams Halloween Theme Park has come to a close. Thank you to all the

amazing fright actors, vendors, staff, and participants that worked so hard to make Screams such an

amazing event. To all the passionate fans who enjoyed Screams’ thrills, chills, and Halloween fun, a

huge thank you for the tremendous support over the years," a message on the website reads.
