FRUITPORT, Mich. — The Fruitport community is mourning a middle schooler who was taken off life support following a car crash.

Isaac Rose was going into seventh grade at Fruitport Middle School. The district said he was riding his scooter Sunday, Aug. 17 when he was hit by a car. He suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital.

Rose was taken off life support Thursday, surrounded by his family.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. Isaac will be remembered as a bright, kind, wonderful young person whose time with us was far too short," said Superintendent Jason Kennedy in an announcement to parents.
