LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Thursday after trespassing at a church in downtown Lincoln, police say.
Around 8:15 a.m., officers responded to a trespassing at St. Thomas Aquinas Church near North 16th and Q streets.
Shane Powell, 40, was found sleeping in the building, according to police.
Church staff asked him to leave — but he began “screaming obscenities” and threatened to kill them, LPD said.
Powell ran away, and officers found him a few blocks away.
Police noted that Powell was “belligerent and threatening” toward the officers.
He was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and trespassing. Powell also had six warrants out for his arrest.
