PHENIX CITY, Ala. (WTVM) - The Phenix City Board of Education has formally accepted the retirement of Superintendent Dr. Janet Sherrod.

According to PCS, Dr. Sherrod’s retirement will take effect on December 31.

She joined Phenix City Schools in June of 2023. After spending three decades in education, Dr. Sherrod says it’s been an honor serving Phenix City Schools.

“From the beginning, my focus has always been on students and ensuring they have every opportunity to succeed. The progress we’ve made is a testament to the hard work of our principals, teachers, staff, families, and scholars. I am proud of what we have accomplished together and confident that the systems we built will continue to move this district forward,” said Dr. Sherrod.
