Skylar Thompson’s impressive preseason has turned heads around the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, and former Steelers offensive lineman Ramon Foster says he outplayed backup Mason Rudolph .
Thompson, who had a three touchdown performance against the Jaguars and an impressive showing against the Buccaneers and Panthers, did not shock Mike Tomlin, who had praise for him.
Foster says that performance should have afforded Thompson a chance at the backup quarterback job.
“To be honest, (Rudolph’s) having a guy like Skylar Thompson, albeit it’s the preseason, outplay him,” Foster said on KDKA. “And that’s just the truth. This is a black-and-white league when it comes down to how you are evaluated. And I think he’s made it hard on himself.”
