But there's a lot new happening in Iowa schools this year. And the Register's education team is geared up to keep you apprised on all the details.

Let's meet them.

Samantha Hernandez is the Register's K-12 education reporter who has covered the ins and outs of Des Moines Public Schools for four years. She also has been the lead reporter on the Register's award-winning series, " Iowa's Book Ban Battle ," exploring how a new Iowa law banning books depicting sex acts has resulted in thousands of books being removed from schools.

Phillip Sitter is a communities reporter for the Register covering suburban cities and schools, including West Des Moines, Ankeny and Urbandale. He
