Following an injury to starting catcher Francisco Alvarez, the New York Mets have reunited with a veteran catcher who was recently cut by the Boston Red Sox.

Ali Sanchez has signed a minor league contract with the team that welcomed him into the major leagues in 2020, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic on Twitter/X.

Sanchez was claimed off waivers by Boston on Aug. 8. Now he'll join his third organization this season. He signed with the Toronto Blue Jays in December 2024, and played eight games with the Jays and 54 with their Triple-A Buffalo affiliate. With the Red Sox, Sanchez appeared in just one major league game.

Boston outrighted Sanchez on Friday, and he elected free agency.
