JAMES ISLAND — A horde of law enforcement authorities swarmed onto heavily-trafficked Harbor View Road Aug. 21 after receiving two reports of a shooting and the smell of gas. The calls were fake, officials say.
Shortly after 6 p.m., officers with the Charleston Police Department and county sheriff’s deputies mass-responded to the nearby residential area of Harborview Lane after receiving a 911 call alerting of a shooting, according to an incident report.
The caller, who identified himself as “Paul,” told operators that his father had shot his mother. He said that he and his sister were still in the home. They smelled gasoline and his father was still there, armed with a rifle.
