CHARLESTON — County Council is set to award a contract for projects at two intersections of Fort Johnson Road to help reduce car accidents.
Charleston County Council unanimously voted at their August 21 finance committee meeting to give an $11.7 million contract to Banks Construction Company to build a signalized intersection with crosswalks at the intersection of Fort Johnson Road and Secessionville Road, and an urban compact roundabout with lighting at the intersection of Fort Johnson Road and Camp Road.
Part of the construction includes relocating utilities from Charleston Water System and James Island Public Service District.
Both projects are funded by the 2016 transportation sales tax.
The two projects are geared toward safety and reducing the number of accidents, said Devri DeTo
