CHARLESTON — A murder case dating back three years took less than two days of testimony, along with jurors seeing multiple recordings of the shooting, before ending with a guilty verdict.

Javeon Campbell, 22, will spend life in prison for the June 29, 2022, murder of Sharrod Phillips, 17, at a North Charleston gas station.

Testimony in the trial started Aug. 19. Within the first hour, jurors saw four different recordings of Campbell fatally shooting Phillips. At least two jurors looked away as prosecutors continued playing the video recordings.

A recording of the 911 call captured Phillips crying for help after he'd been shot. A store clerk can be heard telling the teenager to stop moving. The clerk grows agitated with dispatchers.
