Southeast champion Irmo was two outs away from reaching the U.S. championship game at the Little League World Series , but Garrett Gallegos of Summerlin South (Las Vegas) belted a three-run homer in the top of the sixth to help put an end the magical run by the South Carolina team in a 5-3 victory.
One night after a stunning 7-6 win over Sioux Falls (S.D.) , Irmo put on its rally caps again. Joe Giulietti hit a solo homer in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2, then Sutton Gravelle walked with the bases loaded to give Irmo a 3-2 lead. The Las Vegas team was able to get out of the inning without further damage with a strikeout to end the threat.
