BENNINGTON – The subject of Town Manager Stuart Hurd’s ongoing absence from the office due to medical issues is on the Select Board’s agenda for Monday.

The board intends to discuss and affirm the designation of Assistant Town Manager Dan Monks to serve as acting town manager.

Select Board Chair Tom Haley said Thursday that, because Hurd’s leave has been lengthy, the board expects to review and affirm the process under the town governmental charter allowing someone else to be designated to act as town manger.

The board also wants to ensure “that the public is aware of what’s going on, and to tell people that the government is functioning and functioning well, and we are looking forward to having Stu back,” Haley said.

No further updates on the manager were provided by town officials. H
