BENNINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A patient with a possible gunshot wound triggered a lockdown at a Vermont hospital on Friday.
It happened at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington at about 3:30 p.m.
Hospital staffers told Bennington police that a woman was dropped off at the emergency room with a significant head injury, possibly a gunshot wound.
As a safety precaution, SVMC initiated a lockdown, which has since been lifted.
Police say the incident that brought the patient to the hospital happened outside of Bennington, so the case was handed over to the state police.
Bennington police say they took a person of interest in the case into custody at the hospital. They did not release that person’s name or the name of the victim.
