LONDONDERRY, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont State Police are investigating a suspicious death in Londonderry.

Bennington police got the call at 3:30 p.m. When Southwestern Vermont Medical Center staff say a woman was dropped off at the emergency room with a significant head injury, possibly a gunshot wound.

As a safety precaution, SVMC initiated a lockdown.

Police say the incident that brought the patient into the hospital happened outside SVMC at a home on Vt. Route 11 near Thompsonburg Road.

Bennington Police say they have taken a person of interest into custody.

State police say they have not identified any threat to the public.
