BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Buffalo man accused of killing his girlfriend at an Amherst motel last month is being extradited to Western New York to face a murder charge, the Erie County District Attorney's Office said Friday.

Daniel Negron, 37, is accused of stabbing his girlfriend, 27-year-old Emma-ya Sims, to death at the motel on either July 25 or July 26 on the 1900 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard. She was found on July 29.

Negron was arrested on July 29 for an unrelated incident in Erie, Pa., where he fled to a church with a knife and attempted to harm himself.

Prosecutors said that Negron refused to waive extradition, leading to the Erie County District Attorney's Office obtaining a governor's warrant, which was served to Negron at a hearing on Tuesday. He remains in custody pending
