Indiana's top K-12 education official will have another title starting in October: the state's commissioner for higher education.
Members of the Indiana Commission for Higher Education voted unanimously Friday to appoint Secretary of Education Katie Jenner as the next head of the agency, which oversees the state's public colleges and universities and administers student financial aid programs like the Frank O'Bannon Grant.
Jenner will assume the new role Oct. 11. She will also continue to lead the state's Department of Education.
"There has never been greater synergy in Indiana than there is today when it comes to seamlessly connecting students to what's next, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to continue building on this work in an expanded role,"
