Following are bites of business happenings in the northern lakes area.

Sunset Cinema in Jenkins announced on Facebook that after 17 years, it will permanently close after Labor Day.

"We've had a blast going to the movies with you, Lakes Area, but today we are announcing that Sunset Cinema will be closing permanently after Labor Day weekend. Our last day will be Monday, September 1st," the post said.

"We are so thankful for your patronage over the last 17 years and while we are sad we won't get another seventeen more, we are proud to have been part of your community!" it said.

The Chocolate Ox will build and open a location at Breezy Point Resort. The ice cream and candy store with locations in downtown Nisswa and at Grand View Lodge will be open year-round in Breezy Point starting in
