On Friday at 12:23 p.m. a heat advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Saturday noon until Wednesday 9 p.m. for Grande Ronde Valley, John Day Basin and Central Oregon.

"Hot conditions with temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees expected. This will pose a moderate to locally major risk of heat-related illness," says the weather service. "An alternative scenario is lingering cloud cover from possible thunderstorms from southern Oregon may result in lower than forecast afternoon temperatures or higher than forecast overnight low temperatures."

"Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses," comments the weather service.
