BRAINERD — A 64-year-old Crosby funeral home owner was sentenced April 4 for driving while intoxicated to pick up a body in Febuary.

Nicholas Gordon Zillmer entered a guilty plea April 3 in Crow Wing County District Court. He was subsequently sentenced on the misdemeanor DWI to 90 days in jail, stayed for two years while on unsupervised probation and was fined $1,110. All other charges were dropped as part of the plea agreement.

At the time of sentencing, Zillmer had completed a Mothers Against Drunk Driving impact panel and a comprehensive assessment.

According to court documents, law enforcement responded to a report of a dispute around 9:38 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2025, on First Street Northwest in Crosby.
