Stay dry this weekend. A flood watch is in effect for the downtown Augusta area until 2 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 24.
The National Weather Service's Columbia, S.C., forecasting office marked a 2-square-mile area including downtown Augusta and western portions of the Olde Town and May Park neighborhoods.
The NWS predicts "likely" showers and thunderstorms Aug. 23, particularly past 2 p.m., with a 80% chance of rain.
That chance drops to 30% overnight but rises to 40% Aug. 24, particularly past 11 a.m., but dropping back to 30% in the early hours of Aug. 25.
